When I first tried Yoga 3 years ago, after the first class, I decided not to attend the Yoga again. My legs were sore for at least 3 days, more painful than I did my first squat. Fortunately, my friend has persuaded me some time later for another try. With her guidance, since then, I no longer avoid Yoga and fell in love with Yoga. So, I know how tough Yoga can be for a beginner. While I dare not claim that I am as flexible as those postures shown in the photos, but I have made some progress along the way.

Yoga, if it is not done properly, one many end up in worse shape. After all, yoga is meant to be a nurturing form of exercise, not a rigid imitation of poses. With that mind and couple with my experience, here are few things I learn and I hope that they will be useful for you too:(...)
Read the rest of 8 Practical Tips For Yoga Beginners (467 words)

I remember Tai Chi was very popular about twenty years ago when my parents used to attend the classes as much as three times a week. When time goes by, the craze has gone too. Not saying that no one is doing Tai Chi nowadays, but just that it is no longer as popular as olden days.

I had this perception that Tai Chi is an exclusive exercise for elderly. I always laughed at my grandpa whenever I saw him “playing with the air”. But, seeing modern gyms are making Tai Chi as one of the class offerings and some younger folks are taking it up, I am probably wrong. I have spent some time compiling the top 10 questions about Tai Chi and their respective answers:(...)
Read the rest of Top 10 Basic Questions about Tai Chi (713 words)

A big hello to all readers of MunFitnessBlog.com, and a thank you to the man himself – Mun, who has given me the opportunity to write a guest post on his blog.

I am here to share a concise version of my journey in the fitness industry, and while doing so, to give you some inspiration or ideas if you are a fitness enthusiast too thinking of taking the next step, say becoming a fitness instructor!

How I Started…
Many years ago, while I was studying in Monash University, I chanced upon the Sports & Recreation Centre one day (whilst I should have been in lectures), I heard loud music coming from a large studio. I went into the studio witnessed a group fitness class. I was amazed by the students and instructor’s energy level in the class. The next day, I returned armed in makeshift workout attire, took part in my first ever class, and from that day on, was hooked. Back then, it was all freestyle classes. Unlike now where Les Mills classes are all the rage. Hehe…I can still remember the aerobics instructor making us do the “chicken dance” in that first class …

So, we have hot yoga. Sometimes, it can so hot that we want to wear less. Yes, lesser than having loose clothes. The latest trend in yoga requires much lesser than that. You thought it is a joke. Not really, it is for real. It is naked yoga.

Wait no more, several groups of yoga practitioners, in fact, getting more are excited about this new trend. Some might have started doing it earlier but not until a San Francisco community center is offering naked yoga. After that, many are inquiring about it. In fact, in year 2004, a guy named George Monty Davis had stripped to perform yoga nearby Fisherman’s Wharf, causing a public complaint. This incident has raised public awareness about naked yoga.

If naked gym can be accepted, why not naked yoga?
