Every weekend, in the city I stay, I see people flocking to shopping malls. It has almost been a common trend in big cities when families spending almost a day in the mall, from shopping, dining to movie going in the same place. While some are doing that, that is another group of people actually exercise too in the same mall, 3 to 4 times a week.

Yes, I am talking about “mallercise”. Mallercise, or commonly known as mall walking, is a walking exercise in shopping malls. It is supposed to be the power walking done while window shopping. The craze has swept many places in the US, Canada and catching on in the UK too.(...)
Read the rest of Mallercise (Walking in Mall) – Is It Another Fitness Craze? (536 words)

After doing a quick check, it look as if my friend is telling truth. This is a trend that is expected to continue throughout the European continent over the coming years. Subway is even being recognized as the fastest growing franchise in the world. Subway currently has about 31,814 outlets whereas McDonald’s has about 31,000 (but the data is 2.5 years old). Subway is very aggressive, don’t you think so?
In 1996, Kraft (third largest food company in the world after Nestle and PepsiCo) introduced Oreos to China customers. However, the cookie was not well accepted by Chinese there and the sales had been flat. Nine years later, the marketing team finally did a study and found out some interesting findings. The traditional Oreos were too sweet for Chinese too.

The team has developed 20 prototypes of Oreos which are less sweet. After rounds of feedback, Kraft decided to relaunch a reduced-sugar Oreo specifically for China market. Since then, the revenue has doubled and Oreo has become the number one cookie in China. If you look at this from the business perspective, it is indeed a smart move, though 9 years late. While many US companies are still trying to find foreign markets using their existing products in US, Oreo has learned its lesson. So, the successful ones are those who localized their products in global market.(...)
Read the rest of Chinese Don’t Like Sweet Oreo? (234 words)

However, things may be different now. While many are criticizing ladies for starving to have size zero body shape, more and more male fashion models are “slimming down” to be skinny. The so called standard body figure for male model is now 6 feet tall, 145 pounds weight and 28-inch waist. Just imagine a guy with long neck, narrow shoulders, pencil legs, and small chest doing catwalk. Seriously, worship of thinness this way is just too much.
