Whenever I go, I have carry three items – car key, wallet and hand phone. Hand phone has become a must have item in our daily lives, including the time we are at the gym. It is a common scene in my gym to see people checking BlackBerry, replying text messages or talking on the phone. Nowadays, most phones are the music player too. So, seeing someone bringing the phone to gym does not mean that they will talk on the phone. May be they just use it as music player.

I bring my mobile phone with me in the gym and I do not put it in the locker. The convenience of being able to make a call from anywhere is good, but being on the receiving makes running from my various responsibilities almost impossible. However, I have few guidelines to get myself to follow in order not to distract others in the gym:(...)
Read the rest of Do You Talk on Phone at the Gym? (449 words)

After you make up your mind to start a health lifestyle, with a new gym membership, you are eager to start exercising. But, before you work out for the first time, you do some reading. The more you read, the more you get confused with complicated terms and jargon. While learning everything is good, but if you find them intimidated, don’t worry. We all have to start from somewhere. Instead letting them holding you back, start exercising instead!

1) You Don’t Need to Know What Target Heart Rate Is
No doubt, knowing target heart rate can be helpful. However, you need to do some calculations and you may want to understand why you have to do so. Instead of spending too much time in learning this, I want you to start putting your feet on the treadmill, start to run and enjoy your exercise. A simple rule of thumb, as long as you can still talk while you are performing cardiovascular exercise, you are within the target heart rate zone for optimum fat burning. In fact, for obese people, forget about the heart rate, just run, cycle, row or swim.(...)
Read the rest of You Do No Have To Know Everything Before You Start Exercising (311 words)

The energy drink sold in the gym is normally more expensive than you can get at supermarket. Instead of paying more, buy them beforehand. In fact, drink plain water which you can get it free at the water fountain.

Some people do not like going to gym because they are shy to work out with other strangers. Because of that thought, some decided not to sign up any gym membership. I have spoken to many new comers and some of them had the same issue too before they fall in love with gym workouts. They have managed to overcome that feeling and now having good time there.

If shyness is your excuse too, here you go for 7 tips which may help you overcoming that feeling:

You see strangers at the gym. They may not talk to you. They may stare at you. No worry. Just focus on what you need to do. There is no rule that you have to interact with them. Put on your headphones. Don’t worry about others. If you are doing bicep curls, you can close your eyes, feel the tension at your muscles and forget about how others look at you. You are at the gym because of yourself, not because of them.(...)
Read the rest of How Not To Be Shy When You Go To Gym For The First Time? (363 words)
