In October 2005, was told that True Fitness would have a branch at Jaya 33 at Section 13, Petaling Jaya. It would be True Fitness third outlet in Malaysia, after Desa Sri Hartamas in June 2005 and USJ 10 (Taipan) in June 2006. So, again, in June, but in year 2007, True Fitness Jaya 33 finally opened its door.

Went to True Yoga next door. Because the company has creatively come out with different packages, not every member can enter True Yoga. Depending on the package, some can only go True Fitness whereas others can enter both True Yoga and True Fitness.

Waiting area for members to hang out. Was told the design similar with True Yoga in Singapore.

At Sri Hartamas branch, because that is only one security check point, non True Yoga member can always sneak into the classes. Therefore, the company is smarter this time. It created another check point at Taipan branch.

True Fitness Taipan (USJ 10) has been operating since 15 June 2006. As I have seen the building while it was still undergoing renovation since early year 2006, unlike my friend, I was not surprised to see such a big gym. If 40,000 square feet is considered to be huge in Sri Hartamas, you really have to see 80,000 square feet True Fitness Taipan to know what is really HUGE. Was told the company is aiming to get 10,000 members for this branch alone, no surprise to know it needs the entire block of shop houses.

Review of True Fitness at Desa Sri Hartamas (2)

After seeing the photos taken in Review of True Fitness at Desa Sri Hartamas (1), let’s look at the membership fee. Also, I will also share with you what I like and things to watch out before you sign up.

Similar with California Fitness, the standard processing fee is RM99. Initially, I did not understand why they need so much money to process and wonder how tough the process is. Later, I realized that it is just one of the sales gimmicks.

When it first opened, True Fitness has less membership packages as compared to more than 20 packages nowadays. The fee has also been adjusted upward.(...)

After leaving Clark Hatch, I joined True Fitness Sri Hartamas branch in early September year 2005. Before I signed up with the gym, went there for a trial visit. In this post, I will show you as many photos as possible. In my subsequent post, I will share with you what I think about the gym.

The first time I went there, I was puzzling – Am I in a discotheque or a gym?

After getting membership card swapper, you have to go to first floor to get your complimentary towels (one small and one big).

Even in the male changing room, the lightings are made to be those found in disco.

True Fitness made its foot print in Malaysia in year 2005, slightly later than all the established fitness centers. However, it has since picked up the pace with the huge potential being the strongest among them. In this article, let’s look at True Fitness and its founder, Patrick Wee.

Patrick is the youngest in his family, graduated with a degree in law from the National University of Singapore. Rumor said that he is related to the billionaire UOB Wee family. He is the son of Singapore’s former chief justice Wee Chong Jin. Patrick became the Singapore partner in Ray Wilson California Fitness in 1997 and subsequently helped to set up its two Singapore branches in Orchard Road and Raffles city.
