A bit of history about Preacher Cur – Larry Scott, the first Mr Olympia (1965 & 66) is credited for coming out with preacher curl. So, this workout is also known as Scott Curl. Back then, not many people have 20 inches arms. But, Larry Scott, with the height of 5′ 8”, had those arms. Partly because of his preacher curls.

Dumbbell Concentration Curl is one of the biceps exercises I do. Some of you may think that direct bicep workout is not necessary because other compound exercises have actually worked on our biceps. However, Concentration Curls works well for some people, partly due to the psychological effect.

For those who know the biceps anatomy well, the long head (lateral head) of the biceps is worked out more than the short head (medial head) in Dumbbell Concentration Curl workout.

If you look at Olympic gymnastics winner with those powerful (and nice looking) arms, they train mainly with their own body weight. Chin up and pull up greatly improve your performance sport that requires your upper body strength. In Chin Up, the main muscle being worked out is your biceps. Your forearm and back muscles will be worked out too. As for Pull Up, your back muscle will be targeted.

Based on my experience, I find it easier to use EZ curl bar compared with a straight bar. In fact, the EZ curl bar was actually designed for this purpose.
Many guys like to work out their biceps since biceps are exposed when we are wearing sleeveless shirt or when we are shirtless. So, many have spent much time in training biceps, especially with barbell biceps curl. However, most people do not get as much as they can out of barbell curls because of the terrible form. Yes, with the proper form, barbell curl can actually be the most important biceps workout. In fact, I do it as the first workout for my biceps.
