Table tennis or ping pong is an indoor sport in which two or four players hit a ball back and forth to each other with bats (also sometimes called rackets or paddles). The game is fast paced and one needs to have quick reactions. It is possible to impart spin to the ball, which makes the ball bounces to direction which is hard to predicted by the opponent. Though ping pong is also known as table tennis, the rules are slightly different than tennis.
Ping pong bat is actually composed of a wooden blade covered with rubber on one or two sides depending on the grip of the player. Normally, two major grips: shakehand and penhold. I am a fan of penhold which is like the way one holds a writing instrument.
It has been some time I do not play ping pong. Many think the game is just too fast or just plain “boring”. Probably what they want is like to have good looking players such as Beckham in soccer or sexy Maria Sharapova in tennis games.
Good thing is, some ping pong bat manufacturers are still trying to be innovative to get people love the game. One good example is what PUMA recently did. In conjunction with PUMA Table Tennis Tournament (which is known as PT3) which is organized yearly by the company, PUMA has come out with a limited edition paddle sets. . They were designed by long-time pong enthusiast Johan Liden from the New York-based creative agency aruliden.
According to the company, with sophisticated lines and high-gloss finish, the ‘PT3 Ultramagnetic Collection’ elevates the art of the game to new aesthetic heights. This PT3 Ultramagnetic Collection, built to hold only a single paddle (yeah, I know that you thought you want to store more than 1 bats, just like what you did to your badminton rackets), comes in white or black. This holder is surrounded by a thin layer of foam for extra protection and the outside is hard plastic with a high gloss finish. Apart from the bat holder, the ball case is cool too.
I did not find any pricing information online. It will not be cheap, I guess.
