We tend to look at mirror when we are lifting weights. No doubt, ensuring correct form while training with weight is important, but, keep turning your head at the mirror may hurt your neck. Read on to find out more.
Let me share with you an example. When you are doing side lateral raise for shoulders, you may turn to your side mirror to take a peek. Without realizing, you may strain your neck or upper back. Another example is when you are doing push up, instead of looking downward at the ground, many raise their heads. Raising the head occasionally is fine, but keep looking up make your neck exhausted instead of your chest muscles.
So, keep your neck straight with your back. If you need to ensure your form or posture is correct, get a buddy or trainer to watch you doing the moves. (Alternatively, you can record it down using a video recorder at the side.)
