I like to do many things at once, multitasking, so to speak. However, that is one thing I will normally will focus in and try not doing other things. Having meal. Yes, I like to enjoy my meal and not a fan of multitasking at meal times.
Many people tend to do other things while they are eating – watching television, playing games, working on spreadsheet or driving are some of the examples. Doing these things may lead to mindless eating get us eating more than what we need. Look at city folks who grab breakfast or even lunch on the run. Look at those drive through culture popularized by the fast food chains. More and more companies are also using meal times to have meeting with food served. The speed at which we finish the food is not the only problem, the bigger issue is that we often pair eating with some other activities.
We should teach our kids when they are small. Many parents allow their children to watch cartoon while having meals. Children seldom overeat, and the opposite may happen. They may forget to eat in their distraction.

In order to enjoy food, it is better to savor every bite and taste the food. Look at your food. Find out whether it is hot or cold, soft or crispy, sweet or salty. Chew your food. Taste it. Eating mindfully is not only better for digestion, but also helping you to eat just enough, and not overeating.
Make a resolution you will not read newspaper, watch TV or do other thing when you are eating. Can you?

I have a rule in my house… eating is a bonding time. I spent too much time preparing a great and healthy meal for us to not enjoy it fully. So we eat outside on the patio without tv distractions or if the weather doesnt allow it we sit at the dining room table. The only way around it is if golf is on.

Yeah – eating and working/playing at the same time can make you overeat. Plus – its more fun to enjoy the moment and do one thing at a time, the right way.
Except when doing chores. I often do stuff and listen to music or tapes, etc.
Cheers,
Yavor

Never thought of it this way Mun. I often eat at my desk at work but never considered that this could lead to me developing a mental connection between food and the computer. I might have to stop doing this.
