Sylvester Stallone, who has played John Rambo and Rocky, was an icon of Hollywood heroism. He was my idol when I first watched those movies and I even had the First Blood poster sticking on the wall in my room. This year, 2008, Stallone is going to be 62 years old and his fourth Rambo movie was just released in January 2008.
In February 2007, Stallone was stopped by Australian Customs officials for having human growth hormone Jintropin in his luggage. He was then convicted of taking restricted muscle-building hormones into that country and ordered to pay for the fine. In an interview, he admitted that Jintropin gave his body a boost to feel and look good and he needed that for the shooting of Rambo IV in Burma. He also said that he takes that hormone regularly because of damaged tendons and thin bones. It looks as if he is using it as an anti-aging therapy.
To make things worse, Stallone’s ex-lover, Janice Dickinson has told the media that she has seen Stallone “juicing up” with steroids when they were together. She even claimed that Stallone injected her with them as well and make her ending up with big arms like Popeye. Stallone has hit back at her claims and called her a liar.

Rocky I
So, those are the negative news about Stallone. He did have one of the better bodies in Hollywood when he was filming for first few Rocky and Rambo movies in 1980s. He was training with two time Mr. Olympia Franco Columbu at that time.
Rambo I
To look like one of those lean prisoners of war (POW) in Rambo I (1982), Stallone consumed very little a day. Rumor said that he ate only 200 calories to slim down, but I found it hard to believe. 200 calories is really very little for a day. The food is mainly protein food with occasional potato. He lost his weight until 159 pounds (about 72 kilogram).

Rocky III
In making Rocky III (1982), Stallone continued to drop his weight to 155 lbs (about 70 kilogram) to have the effect of David & Goliath in the boxing ring. He ate a diet of 10 egg whites and a piece of toast with a piece of fruit a day. He admitted that that diet has made him so weak. He then worked out and ate more later to build up his muscle mass up to about 175 lbs for the final face-off match.

Rambo II
In Rambo II (1985), Stallone trained six and half weeks before the filming. Franco got him to train his abs with a total of 500 repetitions for every abs workout including 125 times each on sit-ups, led raises, side raises and side bends. Stallone’s measurements when he was filming Rambo II were 50-inch of chest, 29-inch of waist and 17-inch biceps. At his peak, his body fat percentage was about 4%.

Rambo III
He was once claimed that he did bench pressing on 170 to 180 kilogram of weight and doing squat for over 220 kilogram in his prime time. He eventually hurt his pectoral muscle (chest muscle) and rumor saying that he had to undergo an operation in hospital.

Rocky V (Rocky Balboa) and Rambo IV
In year 2007, Stallone has his fifth Rocky movie, Rocky Balboa. No-one thought he could do it, but Sly Stallone, despite being over 60, was still able to achieve the muscular and combatant physique needed to reprise his once famous role. He trained only 3 days a week, but he lifted heavy weights and spent time in crunches with more protein intake. Certainly, his body was no where close to the one he had 20 years ago.

With the incident in Australia mentioned earlier, I afraid that the rumor of him using steroid is going to be more true than ever. Just like Madonna who is obsessed with self image and the worry of getting old, Stallone has done what he thinks is the best for his body, though many may disagree with his choice.
Now, in his latest Rambo IV movie in year 2008, do not expect to see many scenes showing shirtless Stallone. Unlike previous Rambo movies, I heard he has his shirt on most of the time. He knows what he has left at his age.

Putting the steroid issue aside, according to his bodyguard, Gary Compton, even nowadays, Stallone does not take snack though he does take pasta once a in a blue moon and even that, it has to be made with special flour. Fish and brown rice are the main food. He seldom drinks alcohol drink and he eats oatmeal cookies for quick energy. In short, he cares a lot about his diet and he has been doing it since many years ago.
Steroid or no steroid, good or bad, I am still going to watch Rambo IV.

GH or roidz, it doesn’t matter at all. He sacrificed himself just to entertain the world. That’s his passion for being an actor. It’s him… and no one else. That itself, made him one of the current living legend of the world.

pardon me if my opinion seems off, but TO ME… i dont find steroid use to enhance one’s body is wrong (and no, i’m not a steroid user). To me, as long as that person knows how to manage and use a particular substance to his advantage AND doesnt trouble anyone else in the process.. its all good.
life is all about choices.

I have always been fascinated with Stallone cause he’s small like me, but know how to make the best out of it. NO ONE WANTS TO WATCH SOME SKINNY LITTLE DORK in these movies. Get big as you can any way you can. JUICE ALL THE WAY!
methyl.vol plust propadrol works fine, then pct

Wow all of the previous posts agree with steroid usage thats just wrong. Steroids have far more negative side effects then positive
the first and i supose the most important for any man long periods of steroid use causes you testes and penis to shrink, brittle bone diesease try lifting more then 2 lbs when you have this diesease enlargement of the heart (its a muscle too you know) along with other heart diesases massive personality disorders such as aggressiveness for know reason AKA roidrage
You people are crazy your body is not healthy if you are abusing it with substance the likes of bruce lee never used steroids and look at him yes stallone is bigger then lee but i bet lee was alot healthier in spirit body and mind.
