How To Build Body Like Michelle Ryan, The Bionic Woman

February 25th, 2008 · 8 Comments ·

Bionic Woman, is a remake of an old American television sci-fi series in 70s. The show has recorded NBC’s highest midweek premiere ratings for the past 9 years. Though the television series Bionic Woman have not reached this region, I have gone online searching information about it, especially on the key actress, Michelle Ryan.

Michelle Ryan’s body shape (right one) before the transformation.

Michelle Ryan’s body shape after the hard work at gym.

So, how has Michelle Ryan trained in her workout to prepare for her role in Bionic Woman:

  • In the series, Bionic Woman has the robotically enhanced power and speed. To play the Bionic Woman’s role, Michelle Ryan has been spending working out in gym with vigorous activities including weight lifting, boxing and doing cardio with elliptical trainer.
  • Before this 24-year-old Londoner lady came to US, she admitted that she liked sleeping and she never liked working out. However, today, she does most of the stunts including fight scenes and jumping in the series. She has no choice but to work out hard, as much as 12 hours a day. The first week was grueling for her, but she was determined to continue. Take bench press as example, she was not able to complete even one on the day one, but now she could do 15 to 20 repetitions for moderate weight without problem. She realized that working out has given her much energy and confidence in her new role.
  • To take on the fight scenes, she has picked up Krav Maga which is an Israeli martial art. She has also build her stamina and sprint power by running uphill.

Here are some of the candid shots showing her working out at gym.

Here are some of the scenes showing her “bionic-woman” type of workout in the show. Yeah, one arm pull up.

And taking on bad guys Sparring with her partner (Thanks, Andrew for pointing this out).

Michelle Ryan in real life. Still stunning.

With the success of Bionic Woman and better shape body, I bet that Michelle Ryan will be in one of the top ranked sexiest woman in FHM 2008. The other female celebrity whom I also admire in terms of body shape is Jessica Biel. Check out How To Train To Get Body Like Jessica Biel. Hope that Michelle will not be like Madonna who is obsessed too much about fitness.

    Nice pics!

Just a correction on the “And taking on the bad guy” heading.
The person she is fighting against is her partner during a sparring session.

I know because I’ve watched Bionic Woman on TV.

    Mun: Thanks, man.

I know she’s the new flavor the season, but I dig Jessica Biel and Jennifer Gardner’s body much more.

Have you seen Jessica Biel’s body in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry? Mon dieu.

And Jennifer Gardner’s abs in Daredevil?

Hi aw, yeap. Jessica Biel and Jennifer Gardner are hot. In fact, I am preparing a write-up on Jennifer Gardner for next month post.

Great inspiration – shows anyone that if Michelle can do it so can they. It just take determination and desire. The most important thing is just to take action – JUST DO IT! whatever it is.

    Mun: that would be cool!

LogicYuan: one-hand pull-up is possible, but no way to do it with your shoulders totally horizontally like in the photo above. The shoulder of the hand that’s not hanging from the bar will definitely be lower. That said, I’ve seen this free-climb mountain climber on TV do 2 finger pull-ups!
