Ladies, want to tone your butt by wearing a special shoes?

Earth Shoes may be the the answer. According to the company, by making the toes are 3.7 degrees higher than the heels, Earth Shoes are designed to shift your weight back to the most weight-bearing part of the foot (the heel pad).

Designed by a Danish yoga master, the 3.7 degrees of Kalso Negative Heel Technology simulates the angle of one’s feet during Tadasana pose in yoga. With that, walking and standing becomes more anatomically correct. These negative heels help improve posture and strengthen your body while burning more calories. Body parts involved include calves, thighs, glutes and stomach muscles.

Earth shoes even have a series of Vegan collection for animal lover. Vegan Society’s logo means that the product has been certified not using any animal in its design.

For girls who have worn high heels for some time, they may need longer period of adjustment to Earth shoes. Minor discomfort is expected. Whether these shoes can help burn calories, we will need independent scientific study to confirm the benefits. For people who want to try, treat the calorie burning effect as a byproduct rather than an expected results.  If you have tried the shoes before, let us know how they are.

Jessica Alba was spotted wearing Earth Shoes Lodge Boots. Look as if celebrities are also crazy about these fitness shoes.

I can see where Earth footwear, & the FitFlop are going with all this BUT whislt these shoes do correct the posture whilst wearing them, the more serious complication is that they will weaken the psture even further when you are not wearing them!

By providing artificial support (in the same way as orthotics) you are teaching the muscles in the foot to become reliant on a crutch. The body is very clever and will adapt accordingly. So after wearing the shoes for a period of time, the muscles will deceide that they no longer have to do the work thay are supposed to and atrophy even further.

Second, to go from regularly wearing high heels which massively shorten the calf muscle and plantar fascia, to wearing something that puts the achilles, the calf and the plantar fascia into hyperextension is dangerous. These shortened fibres will be extremely tight and need gentle and gradual stretching – not a forced stretch which will tear and damage the tissues.

One possible exception to all this is MBT’s. But even then you must have full awareness of how the anatomy of the foot and shoe works to get the correction benefits that the manufacturer suggests will happen automatically.

If you have poor gait and muscle imbalance, you will still have this imbalance in any shoe you walk in. The only difference is that your body will find another way to compensate.

In trying to look for new technologies every day we ignore the simple truth. The body was designed to work by itself without props or crutches. The foot has around 150 sensors that tell the body how to position itself for optimal posture and gait. Barefoot is the best way of retraining your posture.

    Interesting idea for a product

    +1 to what Nisha said.
The only “shoes” I’ve ever seen that don’t mess you up are the Vibram Fivefingers, because they’re like walking barefoot with a protective layer. Shoes with heels cause all sorts of problems, and these “toed” shoes are likely to do the same.
Honestly, just go barefoot when you can, avoid situations where you’ll have bad posture (i.e. sitting at a desk), and try and get more mobile/flexible, and you’ll have good posture.
And if you want to burn more calories walking, just wear some sort of weights the entire day ;)

I think its best to train with weights to improve your posture…that way you don’t have to always rely on shoes….but that’s just me, I may be wrong….

Totally agree with Lee & Trainerpack – As we know targeted high intensity resistance training and interval training increase your calorie burn for the next 48 hours after a workout, where as walking only burns calories whilst you are walking.

Also long steady cardio is highly ineffective for fat burning.

Of course increased activity levels are encouraged as the more active you are the healthier you will be – but for specific fat burning (and strengthening postural muscles) short burst inetnsity workouts are the fastest and most effective way of burning fat off of your body.

Hmm. I’ve been wearing these for about a month now and I really love mine. I find them incredibly comfortable. I’m maybe seeing a SLIGHT improvement in my calf definition.
