When I first started working out, one of the ways to motivate myself to build the habit, I used a little trick. Every time after I came back from gym, I would mark that day with an “X” in my calendar. The markings gave me a quick overview on how frequent I have been working out that month.
If you do not like the X sign, by all means, replace it with a smiley face, star or heart. You can also use different colors or shapes to indicate what activity you have done on that day. Trust me, if you have been working out hard, it is a great feeling when you look back your calendar. In fact, by keeping track on your effort, you know when the best time to reward yourself. I have a friend who will buy himself a fast food every time he gets 15 stars.
