All this while, I thought most golfers just have to focus in their skill in swinging the clubs. Why? Golfers don’t have to run. They don’t have to jump. They don’t have any body contact with other players. Just swing the clubs.
Really that easy? Not really. Two years ago, my friend has already told me that Tiger Woods actually does weight training. However, that time, we could not have any solid proof. Fortunately, I came across an interview article last week and it is true that Woods spend lots of time in gym.
Wait, who is Tiger Woods? (more…)

This is the post long overdue ever since I started this blog. Barbell squat is a must-have compound exercise to build powerful legs. One should not just want a solid upper body, yet with pencil legs or chicken legs.
Superman has a more balanced legs compared with Mr Incredible.
A season bodybuilder even teased me saying that if I do not squat, I will forever remain a boy and should not have performed any other workout. In other words, he believes that the best overall exercise is squat.

When I first started my weight training with resistance machines before I learn the dumbbells workout, most of the workouts were actually isolation exercise. Isolation or compound exercises, I had no idea at all. I thought that in order to target a certain muscle, I had to focus more on isolation exercises. Fortunately, I did not take long to realize this misconception.
So, what is actually isolation workout? How about compound workout?
OK, an isolation exercise is one where the movement is restricted to one joint and one muscle group. For instance, the leg extension is an isolation exercise for the quadriceps. No other muscle groups are involved, and movement occurs only around the knee joint. (more…)

True Fitness made its foot print in Malaysia in year 2005, slightly later than all the established fitness centers. However, it has since picked up the pace with the huge potential being the strongest among them. In this article, let’s look at True Fitness and its founder, Patrick Wee.
Patrick is the youngest in his family, graduated with a degree in law from the National University of Singapore. Rumor said that he is related to the billionaire UOB Wee family. He is the son of Singapore’s former chief justice Wee Chong Jin. Patrick became the Singapore partner in Ray Wilson California Fitness in 1997 and subsequently helped to set up its two Singapore branches in Orchard Road and Raffles city.

One of the main reasons I left Clark Hatch for True Fitness is because of Les Mills classes. I have always curious about these classes, especially Body Pump. What made me curious is how the 1-hour class can be conducted with compelling choreography. So, I attended Body Pump on the first day I joined my new gym.
What is Body Pump? Wonder why the inventor did not call it Body Inflate or Body Pop. How about Body Bomb or Body Hard? Why the sky is blue?
OK, back to the topic. So, are you tired of working out alone? (more…)

Vibrated training is something new to me. No, nothing to do with vibrator, you dirty minded fellow. After doing some research, found out that this technique actually has been used by few celebrities, including Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Natalie Imbruglia, Jonathan Ross and Simon Cowell. They were devotees of the system which involves performing exercise whilst standing on a vibrating platform or connected in some way to a vibrating device.
Why do all these celebrities go for the so called vibrated training? (more…)
