Why Weight Training, Why Not Mopping Floor At Home?

Whether you are man or woman, fat or thin, short or long, weight training is good for your health. When I first went to gym, my mum had this perception that only those bulky type of body builders will train with weights and use the resistance machine. She would ask, “Why go to gym? Why not help me to mop the floor at home since you just want to build muscle?”

I told her, “If mopping floor help build muscle, janitor will be the next Mr Universe.” Sigh.  Most people are ill-informed as to how weight training can help them lead a healthier life.

Should We Eat After Working Out?

Most people work out to lose weight. I would say, burn fat should be the goal and not lose weight. After all, one should not lose weight by losing muscle or water. Fat is the real enemy.

Because of this weight loss mindset, many choose not to eat after exercising or working out at gym. Even if some dare to eat, they go for purely protein. Let’s look into this topic – Should We Eat After Exercising or Working Out?

McDonald’s Wants Supper Market with Mac Tonight

It was 11:30 PM. Just finished watching Finding Nemo with my little 8 year-old cousin sister.”Can we go to McDonald’s? I’m hungry.”

“Almost midnight. McD is already closed. Why not I get you glass of milk and biscuit?”

“How come you so out dated? McD opens 24 hours a day.”

Review of California Fitness at Mid Valley (2)

This is the second post of the review of California Fitness at Mid Valley. First post can be found here.

The way California Fitness branded its membership package is like the bankers did to credit cards. If you know the Classic, Gold and Platinum concept in differentiating the credit cards, you will have a better idea.

The sales person spent about half an hour to go through each package. He told us, “Only if you are committed to come here to work out often, say at least 2 or 3 times a week, you should join us. Take into consideration where you work and where you stay. Otherwise, you may not think your investment worth the value.” He gave a very fair recommendation. However, he still used the typical sales gimmick – join today to get the last day offer. We did not buy in to that and told him that we would make use of the free pass for a week before making decision.

Review of California Fitness at Mid Valley (1)

I first went to California Fitness at Mid Valley in August 2005 when I was looking around for a good gym. Two years later, when I went back there. Nothing much has changed. So, the review I did two years ago is still valid. Here you go for the write up.

It was a public holiday. Traffic was very smooth when we drove from USJ to Mid Valley. Took less than 20 minutes to reach there, but still have to spend about 10 minutes to get a good parking. Damn, as early as 10:30 AM, tourists and shopping crowd were already there.

Went all the way up to third floor at North Wing. Greeted by this sign board.
