You Do No Have To Know Everything Before You Start Exercising

posted on April 27th, 2009 ·

After you make up your mind to start a health lifestyle, with a new gym membership, you are eager to start exercising. But, before you work out for the first time, you do some reading. The more you read, the more you get confused with complicated terms and jargon. While learning everything is good, but if you find them intimidated, don’t worry. We all have to start from somewhere. Instead letting them holding you back, start exercising instead!

1) You Don’t Need to Know What Target Heart Rate Is
No doubt, knowing target heart rate can be helpful. However, you need to do some calculations and you may want to understand why you have to do so. A simple rule of thumb, as long as you can still talk while you are performing cardiovascular exercise, you are within the target heart rate zone for optimum fat burning. In fact, for obese people, forget about the heart rate, just run, cycle, row or swim. (more…)

Stop Obese People From Eating In Restaurant

posted on April 20th, 2009 ·

In US, lawmakers in the state of Mississippi are planning to create a bill to stop restaurants from serving food to obese people.   Source. The state has the highest obesity rate in the USA.  If this bill really goes through, all food establishments will need to rely on few criteria to define whether one is obese.

Mun’s Comments

  • As expected, with airlines are already thinking of charging more on overweight passenger, obese people take this move as a discrimination. If a business refuses providing service based on ethnicity or gender, people will jump. Now, if obese people are denied food in restaurant, it can a discrimination too. Do You Want To Get Skinny To Be Male Fashion Model?

posted on April 10th, 2009 ·

I was very thin when I was a teenager, less than 105 pounds (48 kilogram). It was always a disadvantage during physical games like soccer and basketball. None of my friends want to be that thin too. So, it is only normal to think that most guys want to look fit with some nice muscles.

However, things may be different now. While many are criticizing ladies for starving to have size zero body shape, more and more male fashion models are “slimming down” to be skinny. The so called standard body figure for male model is now 6 feet tall, 145 pounds weight and 28-inch waist. Just imagine a guy with long neck, narrow shoulders, pencil legs, and small chest doing catwalk. Seriously, worship of thinness this way is just too much. I hope guys will not fall into it and not being brainwashed thinking that “thin is good”, just like what happen to many women. If this really happens, we will hear stories men suffering from anorexic. (more…)
