Do Your Parents Influence Your Eating Habit?

posted on June 21st, 2008 ·

The society is changing. Raising a child to maintain a healthy body weight and the right attitude towards towards food is getting tougher. Obesity (because of overeating) or underweight (because of eating disorder) is some of the challenges which parents are facing nowadays. Today, I would share with you how my parents, especially my mum, played the role in influencing my eating habit.

I remembered when I was in kindergarten and primary school, I would spend part of my pocket money, given by my parents, to buy junk food at school canteen. I would have to hide them in my drawer at home if I wanted to share it with my siblings. Mum would scold me if she found out. My favorite was actually sweetened chewing gum, and not really the crispy potato chips.

Do You Read While You Are Riding Stationary Bike?

posted on June 18th, 2008 ·

That is this guy who likes to read in the gym. I see him reading when he is riding the stationary bike. I see him reading on the leg extension machine. Then, I find him reading on the stretching area. Don’t get me wrong. Reading is good.

I watch movie shown at the LCD screen too at the elliptical trainer. But, exercising casually, without even have a single sweat may defeat the purpose of working out.

Is Steve Jobs Sick and Will He Ever Be On Stage Again?

posted on June 16th, 2008 ·

Latest update: According to a statement from Apple on 5 October 2011, Steve Jobs has passed away.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.  Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Steve Jobs, 2005

Steve Jobs is the founder and CEO of Apple. I like to watch his impressive presentation. He speaks with his passion. His love for Apple’s products is so strong that it becomes more than infectious. His love does not stem from pride, but from his belief. He believes that his products are rock solid good. And that belief drives his presentation.

On 9 June 2008, when I watched the TV news of Apple announced the release of iPhone 3G during Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC 08) in San Franscisco, from sitting far away, I asked my friend, “Who is that skinny fellow? Where is Steve Jobs?”

I was expecting Steve Job to deliver the keynote message.

“Bro, that guy is Steve Jobs, who else?”

Will You Pay More For Food with Less Calories?

posted on June 13th, 2008 ·

Some time ago, one of my friends said, “Clubbing clothes are getting more expensive, especially worn by ladies. But, I don’t understand why girls are paying more for dresses which are skimpy with less material of clothes.” Paying more for less.

That is an interesting thought. In my opinion, dresses are not charged based on “price per inches of material”, but design is the deciding factor in addition to the quality of the material. So, we should not judge its price purely based on the quantity of cloth being used.

How about food, does “price per calorie” make sense too? (more…)

Biceps Workout (2) – Chin Up

posted on June 10th, 2008 ·

I like both pull-up and chin-up. If you look at Olympic gymnastics winner with those powerful (and nice looking) arms, they train mainly with their own body weight. Chin up and pull up greatly improve your performance sport that requires your upper body strength. In Chin Up, the main muscle being worked out is your biceps. Your forearm and back muscles will be worked out too. As for Pull Up, your back muscle will be targeted.

Introducing Underwear Which Gives You Vitamin C and Ginseng

posted on June 8th, 2008 ·

Don’t eat enough Vitamin C from orange? How about get it from your underwear?

AussieBum, Australian underwear company, has a range of vitamin and ginseng enriched undies called Essense. The company claimed that these minerals will be absorbed through the skin and give your whole body an overall feeling of wellbeing. These briefs stay vital until 15 washings, and then they should be soaked in “Essence Extender” to re-energize them. They are sold in sachets. How to “re-energize” them? Soak the garment for 20 minutes with the mixture of Extender and warm water, then drip dry away from direct heat.
