Who Else Want To Have Batman Christian Bale’s Yoyo Type of Body Transformation?

Do you know Christian Bale, who plays Batman in Dark Knight, is actually a vegetarian?

Christian Bale is a Welsh born English actor.  Before his Batman role in Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008), in year 2000, he played the role of a serial killer who has an incredibly ripped body in American Physco.  Then, in the film The Machinist in year 2004, at the height of 6’2″, he dropped his weight from 180 to 120 pounds for his role as an anorexic insomniac factory worker.  I read that he ate one can of tuna and an apple a day in order to lose so much of weight.  He wanted to go down to 100 pounds, but the movie producers had to stop him from doing so worrying Bale’s health would suffer too much.

When Christian Bale took up the role of Batman for Batman Begins in year 2005, he had to gain his weight.  However, he found it hard to rebuild the muscle he used to have.  On the first day he went back to gym, he admitted that he could not even do a single push up. He had a 6-week deadline before for the audition of Batman Begins.  Still, he managed to regain about 60 pounds.  Fortunately, when shooting started five months later, this Batman has finally weighed 220 pounds (about 100 kilogram) with his muscular body.

Christian Bale was reported to be a vegetarian since the age of 6.  I am not so sure about that fact since some sources said he ate a can of tuna when he was losing weight for the role in The Machinist.

Let’s assume that he is a vegetarian, what are the sources of his protein to build his muscles?  When others can get protein from lean meats, Bale most likely has to get high quality of protein from eggs, cottage cheese, milk and protein shakes assuming he is not a strict vegan.  Otherwise, he will really have to take protein strictly from vegetables, fruits and protein shakes.

I could not find much information about Christian’s workout.  I assume that he has done mostly compound workouts.  You can see few shirtless scenes in his latest movie.  He is in pretty good lean shape, but Ryan Reynolds still rocks in Blade Trinity.

Being a celebrity is not easy.  If not because of money and fame, I doubt anyone will want to have that yo yo type of body shaping, once from toned shape to bony, and later bulk up again.  These unhealthy transformations may do harm in long term.

I’m amazed that Christian Bale can do this!! It’s really incredible – all the hard work!

Not to mention Bale in Batman Returns was told to slim down a little after rocking up to the set looking more like Bane than Bruce Wayne.
Whereas in TDK, I think he’d achieved the size they had aimed for with the character.
