Will Weather Affect Your Decision to Exercise?

If it is raining heavily, I will be less enthusiastic to go to the gym. If the weather is too hot out there, I prefer to stay at home and wait till the sun goes down first. But, in a good day with nice weather, I will take my bike and cycle outdoor. So, yes, to certain extent, weather does affect my decision to exercise.

Living in a tropical country which rains normally take place on late afternoon and stop before night time, and also partly because of my work schedule, night time currently is the best workout time for me. For the past few years, I have slowly built up the habit of working out at night.

I have a friend who jogged outdoor on rainy days with raincoat (luckily not running with umbrella). I am impressed but I have told him that it could be dangerous to do that, especially in city roads when vehicles may not be able to see him running. He finally stopped doing that after signing up a gym membership. Nowadays, I can see him having good time running on treadmill while watching television shows with the LCD screen.

I understand that some will get grumpy or becoming lazy during winter wheres summer can be too hot to run outdoor. How about you, is weather a huge factor for you when it comes to exercise?

Thats one of the beautiful things about bodyweight exercises (http://munfitnessblog.com/why-you-should-also-consider-body-weight-training/) – you can do it anywhere.

So I dedicated a reasonable space in the garage for exercise. I hate running in the rain (catching a cold isnt worth it), I don’t let myself off and just pop into the garage.

Tip: If the space is tall enough, skipping is a good way to get warmed up.

Last winter I injured my knee badly when I was trying to jump over a pile of snow. I’m because of this I’m still not able to do basic standing weight training so my recommendation is to stay inside in bad weather and find an alternative workout. I love to run outdoor but it’s not worth it.

During my early days of hitting the gym, indeed weather would affect my decision to workout or not. But when it becomes a habit, the rain doesn’t stop me from driving to the gym.

But nowadays, weather and even the time of the day is no excuse for me as I’ve been working out at home for nearly a year. No more driving, looking for parking, changing to my gym kit, putting up with gym idiots who don’t wipe off their sweat from the equipments.

I’m not too outdoorsy though. It’s either too hot or too damp for me.

Yeah yeah. I know. I’m spoilt. But at least I get some exercise done.

It definitely is important to me. Because of the location of my gym.

If i would live next to the gym it wouldn’t matter.

Yea living in Indo now definitely put the “outdoor sports during the day” out of my life. That’s the good thing about joining a gym that it has got aircon to keep us more oxygenated. Too bad that I didn’t do a thorough research about the gym. I joined for the value on special deals. Started my first morning workout spotted:

    – lecherous middle aged men oogling on younger chics.
    – try hard wannabe.
    – guys hogging the machines, to sit down and read their papers (what the?)
    – you think women gossip? these men gossip even more at the gym.

It’s a social gym club for the A.D.D

I am guilty, your honor. I am too lazy to get up during the summer season and too scared to freeze my butt during winter. Even if I have compact treadmills lying around, the thought of getting up from the couch or interrupting my work just because I have to do some workout is not my ideal time off. Although, if I live in the tropics and near the beach, I would be inclined to do some jogging since I love being near the sea and waking up to the smell of the ocean is something that I am continuously hoping for. I just hope I get the opportunity to do so in the future.
